I recently invited some folks over to my homestead for some "Decemberween" festivities. One hundred percent of the people invited, somehow, did NOT know what Decemberween was.
So, in case you don't too, this video should clear things up:
That video was from www.homestarrunner.com, a website I frequented in college, haven't looked at much since, but continue to quote, even to those who don't know what it is. The video emphasizes a struggle we all deal with around this time of the year: finding the perfect gift (or, if not perfect, a passable gift) (or, if not passable, one that the recipient will not want to throw away . . . immediately).
I've decided, therefore to help you all out in your gift-buying by making some suggestions.
If you have a small child on your gift list, might I suggest you consider something from the Sweeter Sweater Company. The sweaters are designed and made by a girl I knew in high school. There are some really cute ones. This one is my fave:
If your giftees are lovers of Christmas decorations, or stained glass, you should check out Visual Anarchy (another friend from high school). She makes very beautiful Christmas ornaments (though I have 5 of these stars in various colors that hang in my house year-round):
If you are shopping for a lady who likes unique accessories, check out Sew Apropos (yep, you guessed it . . . another friend from high school). She does earrings, feathered or flowered headbands, brooches, and some Christmas ornaments. This was my favorite from her latest selections:
And, finally, if I, Sparklebot, am on your Christmas list, consider buying me these items from my Anthropologie wishlist.
I would look so much like Joan from Mad Men in that dress, family! (Some members of my family keep telling me I bear a resemblance to Joan, which I can't say I agree with, and am not sure I'm flattered by, but I will play with it if it can get me closer to owning that dress).
Tulle and a cardigan? Could there be a better pairing?
I'm so obsessed with ruffled tanks right now, it's ridiculous.
So, yeah, this Christmas post had some shameless plugs. But, I don't think that's necessarily bad.

I want.. no, NEED that cardigan.
I may be one of the aforementioned family members. So, for the record, re Joanie on Madmen, let me quote the author of the Harper's article on her curves: "Perhaps I should have also mentioned that I think she's sexy and refreshingly bold and downright gorgeous."
